Red Sky, Blue Sunset
Ada opened her eyes to a pink sky through a curved glass ceiling. The last thing she remembered was falling asleep on the bus home from school. The first thing she saw was a rover waving a robotic arm at her.
"Good morning, Commander!" it beeped. "I'm DUSTY. You've been asleep for nine hours, which is a new record for this dome."
Outside, the ground was the color of rust and the hills were enormous. On Mars, DUSTY explained, sunsets are blue and a day lasts 24 hours and 39 minutes. "So you get a bonus 39 minutes of everything," it said. "Including homework."
